Pilot Namiki Gallery
Namiki Manufacturing Co. Ltd was established in 1918. It started manufacturing lacquer fountain pens 6 years later, in 1924. After one year into manufacturing, Mr. Wada and Namiki traveled to the USA and Europe. They started a marking business with some taka maki-e technique fountain pens painted by artisans Shogo and Koho.
In 1926, Namiki opened branches in Singapore, Shanghai, New York and London. It was the same year that Gonroku Matsuda joined Namiki company as a manager of the lacquerwork.
In 1938, the company name was changed to Pilot Corporation, the mark was also changed from "N" to "P".
I created this small Namiki maki-e fountain pens and pencils photo gallery with my friends. We hope it will serve as a reference in your maki-e fountain pens collection journey.
