In 1997, Nakata Toshiya founded Nakaya together with the retired master craftsmen from Platinum Pen Company. In the beginning , the Nakaya fountain pens were only available at pen show and main orders. Today, Nakaya is a well know fountain pen known for it quality nib and beautiful maki-e fountain pens.
